Abstract

An alloy having good corrosion resistance and strength at high temperatures has a composition within the following range in per cent by weight: .Cr.15-30 .W.5-15 .Ta.0.5-20 .C.0.1-1.3 .Co.and impurities the balance The alloy may also contain one or more of the following element: .Nb.up to 3.0, not exceeding half the Ta content, .Mo.up to 3.5, not exceeding half the W content, .Si.up to 1.5 .Fe and/or Ni.up to 5.0 Mn should not exceed 2.0 and the contents of N, H, Sn and Pb should be as low as possible. Deoxidizers such as Ca and Mg should not exceed 0.5. The alloy may be used as parts of gas turbine and other internal combustion engines, heat exchangers, linings for retorts and other chemical and metallurgical apparatus, tubes and glass working tools.
