Abstract

847,752. Gas carburetters and heaters; regulating. E.N.N.A.M. N.V. Sept. 26, 1958 [Nov. 15, 1957], No. 30857/58. Classes 7(2), 7(3) and 7(6). To inject gaseous fuel into a vehicle engine carburetter C at a pressure above atmospheric and dependent on engine load and speed, a liquid propane and butane mixture supplied from a pressure line 1 is gasified by a high-pressure reducing valve 2, heated by engine cooling water at 3 and passed to the carburetter, via a line 4, a lowpressure reducing valve 4 and a line 24, the valve 2 being controlled from a membrane 6 acted on by a spring 7 and by the pressures in chambers 5a, 5b communicating respectively with the line 1 via the valve 2 (and past its square stem), and with the carburetter downstream of the throttle valve 10 and venturi 11 via a line 9. The low-pressure valve 14 is suspended from a diaphragm 17 acted on mechanically by a diaphragm 21 subjected through a hole 22 to atmospheric pressure. The diaphragms 17 and 21 are subjected through lines 26 ... 28 to suction at and downstream of the carburetter venturi throat. Needle valves 25, 29 are provided for adjustment purposes. The carburetter has a choke valve 30. The Specification describes in detail the manner in which engine speed and load affect the pressure of gas injection into the carburetter.
