Abstract

865,413. Mixing air and gas; regulating. BENDIX CORPORATION. April 30, 1959 [June 9, 1958], No. 14794/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(6). A gaseous fuel carburetter has a supply pipe 46, Fig. 2, controlled by a suction operated valve 48, a main metering orifice 58 leading to a passage 60 supplying the main nozzle 62 situated in a Venturi 22, and an idling orifice 66 supplied from the passage.60 through a restriction 72, the valve 48 being actuated by a pair of connected diaphragms 34, 32, subjected in chamber 38 to the suction at the Venturi 22 and in the chamber 40 to the suction at the idling orifice. The rear face of diaphragm 34 is connected to atmospheric pressure through a passage 74. The fuel is preferably liquified petroleum gas contained in a tank 10, Fig. 1, and passed through a pressure control valve 14 to a vaporizer 12 from which the gaseous fuel flows to the carburetter 16. In a modification, Fig. 3, the diaphragms 321, 341, may be moved manually by a knob 88 to open the supply valve 481 for priming and fuel is supplied to. the nozzle 62<SP>1</SP> through the main metering orifice 72<SP>1</SP> and through a suction operated power-enrichment valve 102.
