Abstract
846,437. Scrap briquetting presses. LINDEMANN, W. Sept. 30, 1958 [Oct. 1, 1957], No. 31231/58. Class 94(1). A press for producing briquettes from scrap comprises a press chamber 10 closed by a cover 14, and a removable plate 23 on the bottom of the chamber. To increase the size of the briquettes formed by the press, the plate 23 is removed and the ram 12<SP>1</SP> is replaced by one that corresponds to the full crosssection of the press chamber. The ram compresses the material against an end wall 15 that is then displaced, as shown in broken lines, to permit the briquette to be ejected. When the cover 14 is raised, the scrap to be inserted in the chamber 10 may be pre-consolidated by a ram acting in a direction at right angles to the movement of the press ram 12<SP>1</SP>, such that the compressed scrap can then fall into the press chamber 10.
