Abstract

879,422. Baling-machines. LINDEMANN, W. Aug. 13, 1959 [Aug. 28, 1958], No. 27726/59. Class 94(1). Apparatus for baling cotton &c. comprises opposed belts 25 feeding the material into a compression chamber 10, the distance between the belts progressively diminishing towards the chamber to compress and force air out of the material prior to its entering. The belts may be adjusted towards and away from one another and the chamber may be apertured to permit withdrawal of air through a conduit 34. The chamber 10 is moveable and after filling passes beneath a further pair of conveyer belts Fig. 2, (not shown), spaced apart so that vertically reciprocating plunger may descend into the chamber and press in further material fed by the second pair of belts. Air is again drawn out of the apertures. Finally the chamber moves beneath a fixed top closure member, (not shown), and a plunger rises from beneath carrying with it the moveable floor 13 of the chamber to effect further compression.
