Abstract

845,949. Ladders. MACLENNAN, A., and ASTBURY, E. Jan. 12, 1959 [June 14, 1958], No. 19099/58. Class 20(2) Plates B in the plane of a ladder pivoted on brackets A fixed inside the lower ends of the ladder legs, carry tubular casings C housing slidable bolts D for preventing sideways tipping of the ladder. Each plate is locked in adjusted position by a wing bolt in a slot. The bolts D are located in extended and retracted position in the tube C by pin and slot. In a modification the bolt D is extended by a tube which encloses it and can rotate on it, the bolt carrying a resilient pad.
