Abstract

736,400. Ladders. AYSCOUGH, T. H. N. March 10, 1953 [March 13, 1952], No. 6545/52. Class 20 (2). To enable a ladder to be used on uneven ground, steps &c. either or each of the stiles is provided with an independently adjustable member which may be locked in the adjusted position. A ladder-stile b, Fig. 4, has a serrated plate c screwed thereto, a coacting serrated member j which carries a foot g being locked to the stile in adjusted position by a bolt o carried by the stile and passing through a longitudinal slot l in the member j. The locking of the serrated members in engagement with each other in the adjusted position may be effected by a cam x, Fig. 6, pivoted at y in the side limbs of a stirrup v secured to the stile b.
