Abstract

845,261. Aerials. MEADOW-DALE MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Oct. 1, 1956 [Aug. 27, 1955; May 2, 1956], Nos. 24663/55 and 13464/56. Class 40(7). [Also in Group XXV] An additional unit for attachment to the dipole 1 of an aerial for the reception of signals in one frequency band to render the system capable of receiving also signals in another, higher, frequency band consists of a rod element 3 mounted on an openjawed spring clip 4. An advantage of the unit is that a fitter can readily attach it to an existing aerial already in situ by simply pressing it into position with the jaws of the clip immediately above or below the junction box 5 normally provided on centre fed dipoles. The clip 4 may be of U-shape with a throat 7 in which the rod 3 is secured by a screw 8. Opposing locating recesses and flared jaws are provided at the opposite end of the clip to facilitate location and assembly. The arms of the clip are drilled and provided with a transverse bolt 13 on which is mounted a coiled spring in a sleeve 16 and a wing nut 14. When the unit is in position the nut 14 may be tightened to secure it. It is preferred to strengthen the edges of the limbs of the clip with outwardly extending flanges 17.
