Abstract

844,366. Contact members for switches. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 9, 1956 [Nov. 15, 1955], No. 32614/55. Class 38 (5). An air-break circuitbreaker has two fixed contacts 10 which are bridged by a moving contact ring 11 mounted on resilient means 19 on a contact carrying arm. As shown the resilient means comprises a rubber bush 19 mounted on a sleeve 21 freely rotatable on a pivot pin 20 on the contact arm (not shown). The fixed contacts 10 are slightly offset so that the ring 11 is rotated during each closing operation as shown at B in the sequence of Figs. 2a, 2b, 2c. The bush 19 may be replaced by an arrangement of radial springs. Specification 844,367 is referred to.
