Abstract
843,455. Wet - spinning textile yarns. UNIVERSAL WINDING CO. June 4, 1958 [June 12, 1957], No. 17870/58. Class 120(2). In wet-twisting, yarn passes from a lower guide in a trough to an upper one, both guides and the yarn-path between them being enclosed in a housing, which preferably has a wall inclined so as to conduct surplus liquid back to the trough. In Fig. 2, the upper and lower guides 45, 44 with an additional guide 46 define a triangular yarn-path between triangular plates 44, 45 each having a flange forming the front and rear walls of the housing.. The lower guide, and the lower part of the housing lie within a trough 40 common to a number of winding-positions. The guides 45, 46 are as shown to centralize the yarn and to squeeze off surplus liquid: all the guides may be of ceramic material. To facilitate threading-up, the flanges are downwardly inclined at the top and terminate just short of the opposite wall: while to allow the thread to enter and leave the housing, the plate 49 is slotted and the corresponding flange cut away. The plates are detachably connected by a bolt with a knurled knob 53. The housing is mounted on arms so that it can be lifted to an inoperative position and locked there. Before entering the housing the yarn passes over feed rolls 19, 20 and a guide 25. Another form with small changes of detail is described.
