Abstract
960,150. Thread sizing apparatus. INSTITUT FUR TEXTILMASCHINEN. April 11, 1963, No. 14600/63. Heading D1L. Apparatus for sizing threads comprises a size box 1 having a stripper disposed at the outlet side formed by two elastic, porous bars, one 10 of which is fixedly mounted while the other 11 rests loosely thereon, a further elastic and porous bar 12 fixedly mounted before the bar 10 in the direction of travel of the thread, the bars 10 and 12 together with a separate floor 4 and the side walls of the box forming a separate size damming chamber 17 having an outlet aperture 16, a size spray device 13 provided above the bar 12, the delivery power of the spray device 13 being greater than the discharge capacity of the outlet aperture. Preferably the upper sides of the bars 10 and 12 are flat and lie in a common horizontal plane and a comb 8 is associated with the box at the outlet side and a water-air or steam spray device 14 is associated with the comb. In use a warp 6 consisting of individual threads drawn from a reel (not shown) is fed by guide rollers 9 via a comb 7 so that the threads pass over the bar 12 where they are sprayed with size, through size in the chamber 17, between bars 10 and 11 and thence through comb 8, the jet from tube 14 preventing sizing liquid from being deposited on the needles of comb 8.
