Abstract
<PICT:0870404/IV(c)/1> In a spraying apparatus for textile fabrics in continuous length in which spray is applied to both faces of the fabric whilst the latter is travelling in a vertical direction between spraying devices mounted in a container, a set of nozzles is directed to eject liquid vertically downwards on to a pair of pivoted perforated sprayboards by which the spray is converted into a mist directed towards the fabric, the inclination of the sprayboards being varied by an electric motor or other means to control the volume of mist impinging on the fabric. As shown in Fig. 1 fabric 1 may be fed through inlet slot a between adjustable plates a1 so as to travel vertically upwards through container A leaving through slot a3. Spray nozzles B direct liquid on to sprayboards C the surfaces of which may be covered with wire gauze. Sprayboards C may be pivoted at C such that their inclination may be varied. In this embodiment motor D provides the drive means and it may be controlled by an electronic unit fitted with feelers d2 which control the degree of dampness of the emerging fabric by variation of inclination of sprayboards C.
