Abstract

1,049,531. Printing apparatus; flocking machines. A. MUSAPHIA, and M. MUSAPHIA. July 22, 1963 [July 21, 1962], No. 28149/62. Heading B6C. In a method of flock printing wallpaper an adhesive is applied to the areas to be flocked by a suitably engraved roller 6 and the web Z is then passed through a flocking machine 11 where the flock is beaten by rotary beaters 18, 19, 20 on a foraminous screen to fall evenly therethrough on to the wallpaper such that the applied adhesive becomes loaded with flock. The surplus flock is then removed from the web by an air system comprising nozzles 30, 34, fan 31 and collecting bag 33 which blows the loose flock to a region beneath a suction hood from which it is passed to the bag 33. The web is next moved through a drying oven 12 being finally batched, reeled and/or cut by a suitable device 37. The engraved roller 6 is associated with an impression cylinder 4, a trough 9a and an adhesive heater H. As the wallpaper passes through the flocking machine it is vibrated in order to even out the layer of flock settling thereon.
