Abstract

The carded lap is doffed from the carding cylinder by an oscillating comb, and an elongate nozzle directs an air jet onto the lap between the comb and cylinder surface to aid removal of the lap from the surface. Pref. the nozzle extends the length of the lower side of a cylindrical housing which is supplied with air via a tube mounted concentrically in the housing and having a row of calibrated apertures along its upper side. The speed of doffing is increased allowing the carding device to be operated at higher speeds.
