Abstract

1392497 Open end spinning SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GmbH 21 June 1972 [21 June 1971] 29110/72 Heading DID An open end spinning device comprises a pivotally adjustable fibre-deflecting screen 14 mounted in a plane perpendicular to the rotor axis between a cover for the rotor housing and the rotor. The deflecting screen 14 comprises a fibre-guide surface and a wall 28 approximately perpendicular to the fibre guide surface. A fibre duct 20 terminates on the inside of the cover and there is a means for producing a sub-atmospheric pressure in the rotor chamber. In use, the fibre guide surface and wall 28 guides the fibres onto the rotor 34, whereas any dirt present in the fibre feed is deflected past the rotor into surrounding space 36 and removed via suction duct 38. The fibre guide surface and wall 28 can be formed by an eccentric slot (as shown) or sector shaped recess in the deflecting screen 14. A second suction duct 52 may be provided. The latter duct may remove fibres remaining in the rotor after breakage of the spun yarn or be used to provide additional suction in the rotor chamber.
