Abstract

1,196,051. Cleaning spinning machines; open-end spinning device. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 24 Aug., 1967 [24 Aug., 1966], No. 39025/67. Headings D1F and D1D. In an open end spinning device 1, the fibre collector surface 3 is cleaned by impurities by a cleaning means brought in contact with the surface automatically, the actuation and termination being dependent upon time and/or spinning conditions. The cleaning means may be actuated by the detection of a decrease in tension of the doffed yarn resulting from a yarn break; or after a predetermined length of yarn has been doffed; or after a predetermined number of revolutions of the fibre collector surface. Apparatus comprises an open end spinning device 1 having a filbre collector surface 3 and a cleaning device directing a flow of fluid against the fibre collector surface. The cleaning device may comprise a guide tube extending through a cover element above the collector surface, and connected to a source of compressed air or pressurised cleaning solvent. The guide tube may be provided with a retractable cleaning element e.g. a brush or scraper. A coarser yarn may be produced on the detection of a break by increasing the speed of the draw rolls, the coarser yarn being wound as the outer turns on a bobbin. The fluid and impurities may be removed from the spinning chamber by means of suction, the removed fluid being received in a reservoir for recirculation.
