Abstract
843,401. Fish meal apparatus. STORD A. S. Nov. 7, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 33995/56. Class 5(2). [Also in Groups VI and XIII] Steam is passed from a pipe 10 into hollow spaces in a screw-flight 3, for drying purposes or for heating fish material such as herrings moved by the rotated screw-flight through a casing containing a hollow cylinder 1 on which the flight is formed, oil and meal being produced by the heating. The flight 3 is preceded by a non-hollow flight 2 and is interrupted at intervals by stirring-paddles, Fig. 1 (not shown). The separate hollow spaces of the flight 3 are formed, one in each turn, by plates 7, Fig. 3, each of which is preceded in the direction of rotation by a stub pipe 8 for the evacuation of condensate from the flight-space and is followed by an inlet 9 from the steam pipe 10. Condensate and excess steam are driven to a condenser, by the steam pressure, through a pipe 20, Fig. 4, arranged in a stationary steam supply pipe 18 which passes through a hollow stub shaft 17 journalled in a bearing in the casing wall of the apparatus. The pipe 18 fits in a rotating endpiece 11 of the steam pipe 10. A solid stub shaft 14 at the other end of the cylinder 1 bears a driving-pulley 15.
