Abstract
1313126 Heating, cooling and drying granular &c material STORD BARTZ INDUSTRI AS 26 April 1971 [16 May 1970] 11281/71 Headings F4G and F4U Apparatus for heating, cooling or drying materials comprises a stationary horizontal chamber 12 having a rotary hollow cylinder 16 with outwardly projecting hollow annular discs 21 receiving a heat exchange medium, vanes 63 on the discs conveying and mixing the material along the chamber and the discs are interconnected at the periphery of the cylinder by ducts 25 to form one or more series. As shown, the heat exchange medium flows into a chamber 23 of the cylinder and into the first of the discs through an aperture in the cylinder wall. The interior of each disc is divided by a guide plate 32, Fig. 3, coaxially mounted relative to the cylinder and separating wall 31 into inner and outer ducts 29, 28 for the flow of medium which then passes by the ducts 25 mounted exteriorly of the cylinder to the adjacent disc for eventual return through an aperture 26 into the interior of the cylinder. The medium is exhausted after flow through passages 34, 36 in the cylinder through a journal 18b at the driven end of the cylinder. In a modification the discs may be formed into two different sections, Fig. 4, with two separate heat exchanger fluid flows.
