Abstract

843,371. Closures for resisting fluid pressure. PEERLESS TUBE CO. May 19, 1958, No. 15955/58. Class 123(1) [Also in Group XXII] In a method of making a pressure-dispensing can, for example a can which ejects its contents under gas pressure, a one-piece body A, Fig. 1, having a cylindrical wall 2 and an integral bottom 1 at one end is extruded from a slug of aluminium, the other end of the body is drawn to reduced diameter with a rounded shoulder transition portion 6, Fig. 10, and the free edge of the reduced portion is rolled inwardly to form a continuous hollow bead 7. A top wall B is located on the bead 7 and is positioned by an upstanding wall 9 and a flange 11. The top wall is secured in fluid-tight relation with the bead by expanding the portion 13 of the wall 9, a sealing ring 12 being included between the wall B and the bead 7. A known type of dispensing valve including a valve body C and having an operating finger D is fitted in the top wall B and a cover E is fitted overall. U.S.A. Specification 2,600,921 is referred to.
