Abstract

841,935. Continuous mixers. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. July 3, 1958 [July 3, 1957], No. 21398/58. Class 86 In a continuous-discharge upward-flow apparatus for bubble-free mixing of fluids when differences in quantity may be large and viscosity of the main component greater than that of the secondary fluid, or where the mixture has a tendency to solidify, the main component enters by a pipe 9 into an axial duct 4, into which the secondary fluid is introduced through a needle valve 8. A rotating disc stirrer 3 has blades 5 which act centrifugally and draw in the fluids from the duct 4 thus avoiding back pressure which might cause the main component to pass into the supply pipe of the secondary fluid. Disc 3 also carries blades 6 which act centripetally and which extend beyond the periphery of the disc. The mixture discharges through outlet 7. The housing 1 may be separated into two parts 1a and 1b by means of a bayonet joint 10.
