Abstract

A water-resistant additive material to protect cement against damp or humid conditions of storage comprises a mixture of lubricating oil and/or a mineral wax extracted from such oil, and oleic acid, and is manufactured by subjecting these constituents in liquid form to agitation, or by adding an emulsifying agent, e.g. sodium pectate or an alginate. The lubricating oil or wax constituent preferably boils within the range 450 DEG to 750 DEG F and the oleic acid suitably comprises 50% by weight of the mixture which is incorporated during or after the grinding stage of manufacture of the cement in a proportion of the order of 0,25% by weight.
