Abstract

841,041. Folding beds; beds convertible to tables. STEEL & CO. Ltd., W. May 3, 1956 [Feb. 16, 1955], No. 4586/55. Classes 52(2) and 52(3) A folding bed which forms a table in the folded position has a mattress frame formed of a centre section I and end sections 2, 3 pivoted thereto, the section 3 having secured to it a bed board 4 forming the table top and the centre section I being supported on pivoted legs 5 coupled by links 13, 14 to brackets 12 secured to the end sections so that as the latter are folded upwards the iegs 5 swing inwardly and lower the centre section 1. Releasable locking mechanism (not shown) secures the foot end section to the head board in the folded position. In a modification (Fig. 4) end sections 16, 17 are pivoted to a centre section 15 which is supported by legs 27 pivoted to the end sections and linked to floor engaging members 23 and centre section 15 by links 25, a head board 22.forming the table top.
