Abstract
839,990. Manifold devices for lifting bottles. BARRY - WEHMILLER MACHINERY CO. Sept. 21, 1956 [Oct. 6, 1955], No. 28902/56. Class 78 (4). Movement of an inner frame B (Fig. 2), relatively to the outer frame A of a device for lifting bottles from a crate causes gripper fingers on the outer frame A to be moved to grip the bottles. As illustrated, each bottle is gripped between a jaw 30 (Fig. 3), carried by a sleeve 26 sliding vertically on the outer frame and a jaw 32 pivoted at 29 to the jaw 30 and moved against the bias of a spring 35 to release the bottles when one of several rods 40 carried by the inner frame engages the upper end 27 of the pivoted jaw. Each gripper 30, 32 is normally biased downwardly by a spring 34 so that a cross-pin 28 engages a sleeve 20 which supports the gripper and which can be moved along rods 19 which in turn can be moved laterally to adjust the positions of the grippers. The lower portions 31, 33 of the gripper jaws are shaped to guide the bottles into engagement with the grippers. The inner frame B (Fig. 2), is supported by rollers 39 from tracks 12 on the outer frame A and is moved by a pneumatic ram 44.
