Abstract

482,845. Filling bottles &c. DETREZ, R. April 12, 1937, No. 10428. [Class 125 (ii)] A device for supporting a bottle or like receptacle during filling, comprises a pair of jaws 6, 7 arranged to engage a rim or bead 18 on the receptacle at or near the free ends of the jaws and to pivot about horizontal axes, 4, 5 arranged at a lower level than the point or points at which the jaw engages the receptacle, the jaws being moved upwards and apart as the receptacle is inserted and gripping the receptacle under the action of the weight thereof. The jaws are opened against the action of a spring 10 as the receptacle is inserted between them and operates a member opening the filling nozzle 16 and as soon as the bead or rim 18 passes between the jaws they are closed by the spring and the weight of the bottle which is gripped by the wedging action of the jaws. The bottle is released after filling by lifting it slightly and raising the jaw 7 by moving a lever 19 integral therewith, the jaw 6 being raised at the same time by the connecting links 11, 12. The jaws may be closed by a counterweight on an extension of the link 11 or by the weight of the jaws themselves.
