Abstract
386,030. Lifting plate covers, lamps, &c. POWER, R. F., 18, Chesterford Gardens, Hampstead, London. Aug. 27, 1931, Nos. 24063 and 26404. [Class 78 (iii).] A device for lifting and lowering plate covers, lamps, &c. comprises an inverted U- shaped member guided in a tubular post and a handle on the post connected to the member so that movement of the handle slides the member into or out of the post, means being provided to retain the member automatically in the raised position. A rigid rod 1 is slidably mounted in a tube 2 and has a lateral arm 5 to which a cover &c. is attached by a clamp 5a. The tube 2 is mounted on a weighted base 3 and may also carry a platform 8. A handle 16 carried on a pivot pin 11 is connected to the rod 1 by links 9, 10 so that when the handle is rotated the rod 1 is raised. The rotation is continued past the dead-centre position of the links 9, 10 until a stop 17 engages the link 10 to retain the rod 1 in the raised position.
