730,078. Awnings. ZVEIBIL, S. M. March 31, 1953 [April 2, 1952], No. 8943/53. Class 20 (3). Awnings comprising relatively movable overlapping rigid plates have two or more supporting arms to which the plates are connected by vertical pivot pins, the arms .being pivotally mounted at their inner ends for lateral swinging movement to either side, during which movement the plates remain parallel with one another. An awning made up of metal &c. plates 9 is supported by rigid arms formed of tubular limbs 1, 2 the upper limb being inclined downwardly from a wall to which is secured supports 7 carrying lugs 5 for reception of hinge pins 6 also passing through tubes 4 at the end of each limb. Plates 9 are carried by members 11 having curved end portions 12, 13, which engage similarly curved edges of the plates, the carrier structure, which includes a beam 10 and a vertical tube 14 mounted on a pin 8 upstanding from limb 1, being free to pivot about the pin. The awning may be locked in a number of angular positions of the arms by the engagement of a bar 15, retractable against a spring 18 by a cord 17, in a hole 16 formed in lug 5. The plates themselves may be downwardly stepped integrally or as a number of connected parts.
