Abstract

861,057. Lifting bottles. DAWSON BROS. Ltd., DAWSON, D., and DAWSON, G. June 2, 1959 [June 11, 1958], No. 18609/58. Class 78 (4). The gripping fingers 4 of a device for lifting bottles are opened and closed positively by a cam 12. In the construction illustrated the cam 12 is moved axially and has surfaces 14, 13 which engage an adjustable abutment 10 on each of the fingers 4 to turn it in the closing direction about its pin 5. A further surface 15 on the cam 12 engages portions 9 of the fingers to open them. The cam 12 may be operated by a pneumatic cylinder, and is guided by surfaces 17. The body 2 of the gripper, and the fingers 4, may be injection mouldings of nylon.
