Abstract

838,845. Ash delivery apparatus. KOPPERS G.m.b.H., H. Nov. 20, 1956 [Nov 29, 1955], No. 35483/56. Class 51 (1). Coarse-grained ash from a reaction chamber 1 operating under superatmospheric pressure for the gasification of pulverized fuels passes to a water-cooled mixer 6 for mixing with a compressed plug of fine-grained material, e.g. sand or ash, delivered through a pipe 7. The mixture is passed through a tube 12 to a device 13 where it is compressed by a piston 15 and forced, in plug form, through a pipe 17 to an arrangement 18 which is not under superatmospheric pressure and in which the plug is separated into lumpy and fine fractions. The lumpy material is discharged into a wagon 24 whilst the fine material is returned via pipe 20 and elevator 22 for re-use in the mixer 6. The ash may be broken to a required grain size in a breaking device before entering the mixer 6 via a feeder.
