Abstract

838,419. Windscreen cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. July 13, 1956 [July 13, 1955], No. 21797/56. Class 138(1). A windscreen wiper arm 3, Fig. 2, comprises a main body part 15 of channel section with flange 33, 34, the part 15 being joined to a portion 32 for attachment to a windscreen wiper blade, each longitudinal margin 38, 39 of the portion 32, and 35, 36 of the part 15 adjacent the portion 32, being folded back upon itself (see Figs. 3 and 4), to provide a side reinforcement which extends from an intermediate point in the length of the part 15 through the junction of the portion 32 and the part 15. The main channelled part 15, Fig. 2, of the wiper arm is pivoted at 16 to a head portion 14 detachably securable to the splined head of a wiper actuating shaft (not shown) by means of a spring catch 23. The side walls 33, 34 of the channel 15, towards the outer end of the channel, are folded as shown at 35, 36, Fig. 4, whilst at the extreme outer end the wiper blade attaching portion 32 of the channel is flat with bent-over portions 38, 39 which are continuations of the portions 35, 36. As shown in Fig. 3, the portions 38, 39 are spaced from the base wall of the channel 15 by inwardly turning the edges of the portions 38, 39. The portion 32 is struck as at 40, Fig. 2, to provide a projecting dimple acting as a detent 41, Fig. 3. The portion 32 is engageable in a clip pivoted to a primary yoke member connected by secondary yokes to the wiper blade in known manner. The detent 41 is urged by a leaf spring on the clip into an aperture in the base wall of the clip, as described with reference to Fig. 5 (not shown).
