838,138. Air-draught and cleaning arrangements in carding engines. BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Dec. 24, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957], No. 30036/57 Addition to 762,403. Classes 120(1) and 120(3) A method of and apparatus for reducing dust liberation in a roller and clearer card, and of removing dust which is nevertheless liberated, consists in preventing high air pressure in the region of the junction between the taker-in and feed rollers, the region of the junction between the main cylinder and the doffer cylinder, and in the region of the rollers and clearers around the main cylinder, by continuously exhausting air therefrom during carding. The card is substantially enclosed by a loose fitting wooden &c., cover 11, and additional cover means 15, 23, 24 enclose the region of the junction of the taker-in 12 and feed rollers 13, 14, and the region of the junction between the cylinder 19 and the doffer 20. Air is exhausted continuously from these two regions at 16 and 21 and from the region of the rollers and clearers at 27, and is removed from the card by the main trunking 18.
