Abstract
925,934. Removing trash from carding engines. LUFTTECHNISCHE G.m.b.H. Oct. 3, 1960 [Oct. 3, 1959], No. 33894/60. Class 120 (3). Trash is removed from the underside of a carding engine by mechanically conveying it to a suction chamber through which air is drawn from suction nozzles mounted in the vicinity of fly-producing parts of the machine. A conveying worm may be used to remove the trash or a single conveyer belt may extend throughout the length of the machine undercasing, or two conveyer belts may be mounted to deliver to opposite ends of the machine from beneath the doffer and swift, or, as shown, individual belts 6, 13, 17 may deliver to air chambers 9, 15, 18 from beneath the swift, doffer and taker-in. The air chambers 9, 15, 18 receive air through pipes 11 from suction nozzles 12, and from the air chambers the trash delivered by the conveyer belts is carried by the air through outlets 10 to a filter system. Rollers that rest upon the conveyer belts at the entrances to the air chambers seal off the chambers from the undercasing and air within the chambers is directed to flow over the rollers and extremities of the belts. The latter may have transversely disposed ribs and rubber strips secured to the machine frame may bear upon the edges of the upper run of the belt. Specification 872,288 is referred to.
