Abstract
837,867. Discharging molten metal. AJAX ENGINEERING CORPORATION. April 3, 1956 [May 2, 1955], No. 10097/56. Class 51 (2). Molten metal in a holding chamber 13 is discharged into a mould 44 through an inclined tube 23 by intermittently supplying air under pressure through pipe 37, said tube 23 having a constriction 27 at its lower end. Air is supplied through a valve 34 for effecting the casting and the pressure is then released to the atmosphere by a valve 36, said valves being operated in opposite phase by a regulator 41 which may be actuated in accordance with liquid metal levels. The holding chamber 13 is separated from a melting chamber 12 by a partition 17 having a Venturi-shaped orifice 19, and the chambers 12 and 13 are respectively heated by induction elements 14 and 16. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 748,498.
