Abstract

[Also in Division F1] A charging and pre-drying chamber 1 for admitting articles, e.g. condensers 17, by step-by-step movement into a vacuum drying and impregnating chamber 7 comprises admission and discharge valves 2, 3 and a forechamber 19, in front of the admission chamber which surrounds the valve 2 and which has ports 20, 21 for the supply and withdrawal of hot air to and from the chamber 1. The chamber 1 is evacuable through a pipe 12 and condenser 13 by a vacuum pump 14 when the valve 2 is in its first, closed position. In the valve's mid-position 4, the hot air flow is introduced into the chamber 1, and in its second end third position 5 the articles are introduced from a space 18, the chamber being at least three times the length of the article so that each article undergoes the heating and vacuum cycle at least three times within the chamber.
