Abstract
673,150. Ordnance. SCHNEIDER & CIE. April 12, 1950. [April 20, 1949] No. 9052/50. Addition to 624,798. Class 92 (i). The hydro-pneumatic recuperator of the main invention is now modified in such manner as to prevent the leakage of liquid into the compartment b of the air reservoir. In Fig. la this is effected by providing in the air reservoir a floating piston 7a which forms a movable fluid-tight partition across the air reservoir. In the inoperative position the piston bears against a fixed stop 7b, but when the piston 5 forces fluid from cylinder 1 into the chamber 7c of the reservoir, the piston is freed to move to compress the air in the compartment a. In modifications of the constructions, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) of the main patent, the inlet into reservoir from cylinder 1 is near the rear end of the reservoir . this ensures that the liquid, now below the piston 9 of the reservoir, is prevented from entering the compartment b at allangles of elevation.
