Abstract

837,686. Drying webs &c. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A. B. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 16, 1957], No. 35596/58. Class 34(1) A gaseous medium for drying webs 2, Fig. 1, is led through apertures 4 in a wall facing and parallel to the webs in a distributing box 1 from a fan 6 which is connected by trunking 7 to the box 1 and to a heating element 10 connected to the suction side 8 of the fan by a duct 9. The medium is discharged through openings 12 in the wall which communicate with the fan or with the atmosphere by pipes 13 passing through the box. The apertures 4 and openings 12 are uniformly distributed over the wall surface but the latter are greater in diameter and less in number than the apertures so that the medium radially flows towards the discharge openings. The flow of the medium to the webs may be directed by a partition 14 which divides the box into channels 15, 16 controlled by dampers 18, 17 respectively. The apparatus may be applied to a Yankee drier, as shown in Fig. 3.
