Abstract
836,548. Thermionic valves. MULLARD Ltd. Nov. 25, 1958, No. 37934/58. Class 39(1). In a high voltage rectifier tube, which consists essentially of an anode and a thermionic cathode mounted within an evacuated envelope to constitute a diode, the anode comprises a metal disc carried at one end of a rod and is mounted within the envelope by inserting the other end of the rod into a metal sleeve which is sealed intc the envelope and which has a closed end projecting from the envelope. The anode rod is secured in the sleeve by deformation of the sleeve outside the envelope. As shown the anode rod 12 is cylindrical and is formed with an annular depression into which is collapsed a part of the sleeve 14 which has a lesser wall thickness than the part which is sealed into the envelope 1. The anode disc 11 and rod 12 may be of molybdenum. The construction of the cathode assembly 6 and the mounting of the cathode screen 7 may be as described in Specification 835,418.
