Abstract
835,449. Hydraulic pushing jacks. STAMICARBON N.V. Dec. 18, 1956, No. 38613/56. Class 78 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] An hydraulic jack operative to push a conveyer, along which coal-winning machines are guided, against the coal face, is controlled by a fluid distribution chamber 7, having an inlet port 12, outlet ports 16 and lines 19, 21 to each side of the piston head 2. A valve member in the chamber has two positions in which one side of the piston is connected to the inlet and the other to exhaust, and a third position in which the coal-face side of the piston is shut off from both supply and exhaust (Fig. 1), so that the ram can yield slightly as the coal-winning machine passes it. It can also be arranged either that both lines 19, 21 are connected to the inlet port 12, or, alternatively, that they are both blocked off by wide lands like land 9.
