Abstract
835,263. Surgical stockings. ROSEDALE KNITTING CO. June 12, 1956 [Oct. 20, 1955; Jan. 27, 1956], No. 18169/56. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group VIII] In the leg and instep of a knitted (Group VIII) surgical stocking, courses of covered rubber yarn 5 alternate with courses in which there are knitted together as one an inelastic thermoplastic yarn 7 and a pre-set torsioned thermoplastic stretch yarn 6. The combined thickness of the yarns 6 and 7, with the stretch yarn fully stretched, is substantially that of the unstretched yarn 5. The welt, heel and toe are knitted of a stretch yarn, the thickness of which, when fully stretched, may be substantially that of the unstretched yarn 5. As the stocking is drawn over the leg, the loops I of the yarn 5 will stretch within the limits imposed by the loops l<SP>1</SP> and l<SP>2</SP> of yarn 6 and yarn 7 respectively.
