Abstract

835,124. Cable end sleeves. MARSAL, M. Aug. 27, 1956 [Aug. 27, 1955], No. 26110/56. Class 36. A H.V. cable termination is formed by removing an end portion of lead sheath, winding an oil-impregnated paper tape 14 over the exposed cable insulation 11 to extend from the lead sheath end for about one third of the length of the terminal, and pushing a hollow prefabricated condenser body 1 over the exposed cable insulation and the tape 14 to closely surround the latter; the condenser body being of resin-bonded paper layers with interposed conductive or semi-conductive foils. The paper reinforcement 14 and condenser body 1 are preferably tapered and provided with a semi-conductor lacquer and copper winding 15 to form a stress cone. Flanged screwed assemblies 8 and 6 complete the terminal which may be filled with oil or compound under pressure. The bonding resin may be a phenolformaldehyde.
