944,734. Electric cables; insulation. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Aug. 10, 1961, No. 28917/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1A. A conductor is wound with insulating strips or foils impregnable with artificial resins on which a shrinkage sleeve is drawn and is shrunk thereon, before or after impregnation of the insulation, the resin being hardened thereafter. The shrunk on sleeve may be subsequently withdrawn from the cable with the help of a thin film of a suitable separating medium e.g. a lubricating oil coated on the inside surface of the sleeve before it is put on the cable. An epoxy resin is preferably used as the impregnant, while the shrinkage sleeve may be e.g. of P.V.C. or a cellulose ester.
