Abstract
835,062. Mineral - mining apparatus. EICKOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI GEB. June 6, 1957 [June 9, 1956], No. 17980/57. Class 68(1) In the periphery of a rotary drum 30 or aligned cutter discs 32 are pivotally mounted cutter picks 31 having opposed tips 44, 45 that permit of cutting without resetting of the picks irrespective of the direction of rotation of the drum or the discs, which are secured to a horizontal, driven shaft extending from the side of a motor-containing housing 28 mounted on for movement along a face conveyer 16. A sledge frame 25 is positioned between the housing and the conveyer. Stops on the frame limit movement of the housing about a pivot pin 27 upstanding from the frame so that the shaft takes up a horizontal position at the face side of the machine extending at approximately 2 degrees to one side or the other of a vertical plane at right angles to the trough depending on the direction of advance of the machine. Advance of the machine is due to driven sprockets in the housing engaging the links of a fixed chain extending along the top of the conveyer side. The frame is steadied on the sides by claw couplings extending between the frame and a guide rail secured to the troughing, Cutting is upwards and rearwards. The mineral is received on a sloping ramp 56 hinged to a fixed ramp 48 secured to the chassis and is delivered by the ramps on to the conveyer. The ramps can be provided at either end of the machine.
