Abstract

679,638. Conveyers; feeding shoots. ROBEY & CO., Ltd., and CROMPTON, A. Aug. 8, 1950. LSept. 6, 1949] No. 23040/49. Class 78 (i). Vertically travelling buckets for conveying material are unloaded by means on the buckets co-operating with fixed tracks so as to rotate or partially rotate each bucket at a predetermined controlled speed, and a radially directed pivoted shoot for receiving the discharged material having an extension or portion adapted to contact each bucket as it is being rotated, so as to move in step therewith. As shown, the buckets 1 are pivotally mounted on pins 2a secured at intervals along an endless rope 1a. At the unloading position a disc 2 carried by each bucket contacts a rail 3 and is pressed against it by a rail 6 spring-loaded to press on a disc 5 freely mounted on each pin 2a. This causes rotation of the disc 2 and bucket 1. As the bucket is rotating, the spindle 2a contacts a finger 8 on the open end of the pivoted shoot 4 and raises it causing upward movement of the open end of the shoot about its pivot 7. The shoot receives the material from the bucket at the intermediate position shown in chain lines, and at the upper position shown in chain lines finger 8 is released allowing shoot 4 to fall to its initial position under control of a counterweight 10. A flap 4a directs the material from shoot 4 into a fixed shoot 9.
