Abstract

834,915. Grease guns. WALKER, B. M. Jan. 1, 1957 [Jan. 13, 1956], No. 49/57. Class 102(1). A grease gun comprises a tubular piston 18 slidable on a fixed plunger 24. The discharge from the annular space by the piston 18 passes through a valve 36 to the outlet 32 and the discharge from the interior of the piston 18 passes through the plunger 24 and valve 29 to the outlet 32. Grease enters the pump spaces through ports 38, 39 from a reservoir 10 having a spring loaded piston. A manually actuated by-pass valve 41 when open allows the discharge from the annular space to return to the reservoir. In a modification the by-pass valve opens automatically and is held open until manually released. In a modification the valve 36 is replaced by an annular valve surrounding the valve 29 and seating on the end face of the plunger 24 which is provided with holes which communicate with the annular space.
