Abstract

832,523. Loading fabrics with powders. TECHNOPLAST-SPINDLER A.G. Aug. 31, 1956 [Aug. 31, 1955], No. 26719/56. Class 42 (1). [Also in Group XV] Powders; of which the particles are of a size such that they are capable of being electrostatically charged to such an extent that their resultant adhesion to other bodies is sufficient to support their own weight, are continuously and uniformly distributed on to surfaces through one or more rapidly moving screens which are provided on their upper surfaces with freely movable elements which carry out a secondary motion under the influence of the screen movement. As shown, a powder hopper a fitted with a vibrator b feeds a chamber roller d which discharges into a funnel c having a screen h at the bottom, vibrated by a vibrator f. Bodies g are free to move over the screen, and in passing through them and through the screen the powder becomes electrostatically charged by friction so that it adheres to a support i such as a textile web passing underneath the screen. The powder, after application to the surface, may be heated so as to form a plastic coherent layer. A suitable powder is polyethylene.
