Abstract
906,153. Endless conveyers. BRITISH PLIMBER Ltd. April 1, 1960 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 36291/60. Divided out of 906,152. Class 78 (1). In apparatus for feeding material of varying density from a supply source on to a receiving surface in the form of an endless belt 9, to form a layer of substantially uniform mass per unit area of the belt, as described in Specification 906,152, the material is first deposited on the belt in the form of a continuous layer by spreading means 21, 21a each consisting of a series of rods or wires 23 extending transversely of the belt and distributed about a common axis about which they are rotatable and which is spaced above and parallel to the belt. The rods or wires are anchored to end discs 22 secured to shaft 20. The shafts 20 of the two spreading means are driven such that the rods or wires engaging the material move in a direction opposite to that in which the belt 9 moves. A series of closely spaced idler rollers 13 supports the belt 9 below the spreading means.
