Abstract

A method of continuous comminution of brittle material comprises feeding material (9) to be ground to the gap between two rollers (10, 11) in such amounts that a substantially static stack of material is present over and supported by the rollers (10, 11), material (9) from the stack being drawn onto the roller gap by frictional action of the rollers (10, 11). The apparatus includes means to maintain the stack, viz a recirculating conveyor and hopper arrangement 15 ... 18.
