Abstract

Particulate material 15 is fed from a conveyer belt 8 to a conveyer belt 1 via a hollow cylinder 5 which is formed with openings so that the material passes through the cylinder and is thereby distributed with uniform density on the conveyer belt 1. In a modification (Fig. 1, not shown), the belt 8 may be replaced by a vibrating shoot. The cylinder 5 may also be vibrated. It may be formed by two concentric cylinders contra-rotating. Instead of the openings being in the form of a single row of bars (as shown), there may be two or three rows. The material may also be passed through a pair of spiked rolls 13, 14, the speed of which relative to the speed of the cylinder 5, may be infinitely variable.
