Abstract
1,008,082. Stacking ice-cream sticks. UNILEVER Ltd. Oct. 5, 1962 [July 21, 1961], No. 26625/61. Headings B8A and B8C. Ice-cream sticks are discharged from hopper 4 by endless conveyer 5 and 6, surplus sticks being rejected back by the counter rotation of wheel 9 so that the sticks in roughly parallel formation are discharged down shoot 12 on to the surface 13 vibrator conveyer 2. The sticks lie down surface 13 and pass between rollers 19 and 18. Roller 19 is a regular cylinder whilst roller 18 has grooves cut in it corresponding to the triangular grooves formed in surface 13. The rotation of wheel 19 causes the scattering of surplus sticks so as to distribute them along the roller. The rotation of wheel 18 feeds a stick through each groove one at a time on to surface 13 which feeds them past wall 20. Wall 20 is shaped to correspond with the troughs formed in surface 13 and has a V-shaped slot cut into it for each trough, so that the stream of sticks proceding down each trough pass through the corresponding V-slot which is so shaped as to permit only the passage of one at a time. The streams of side-by-side sticks now pass between rollers 25 and 26 which are rotated to shoot the sticks into corresponding receivers 23. Each stick is shot into the bottom of the receiver and is guided by slope 27 so that the stacks of sticks is formed from the bottom and displaced upwards by the arrival of the next stick. In this way a plurality of stacks of sticks is formed side by side.
