Abstract

896,861. Feeding cigarettes. MOLINS, D. W., PEMBROKE, G. F., HILLMAN, J. G. E., and MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. Sept. 4, 1958 [Sept. 6, 1957], No. 28194/57. Class 78 (1). Cigarettes being conveyed in separate rows on two endless conveyers 1, 2 are brought together and thence conveyed by the single conveyer 2 in superposed fashion. As shown, cigarettes from elevated conveyer 1 fall on to endless conveyer 3 and then, whilst being conveyed therealong, are displaced transversely thereupon by endless device 12. The cigarettes are ejected from conveyer 3 by spiked wheels 10 and fall by gravity on to the cigarettes carried therebeneath by conveyer 2, the latter carrying away all the cigarettes positioned thereon as a double layer. Endless device 12 is formed of four endless coiled wires. Alternatively, the " displaced cigarettes may be fed into the same receptacle as the other cigarettes, but from the opposite side of the receptacle.
