867,979. Making cigarette filters. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORPORATION. May 5, 1959 [May 21, 1958], No. 15420/59. Class 130. Differing filter-rods A, B, Fig. 1, from hoppers 10, 11 are cut on conveyers 12, 13 into segments which are transferred to conveyers 22, 23, and spaced apart by foam rubber jacketed friction rollers 31, Fig. 2, and then by fixed guides 38 on covers 27 having roller slots 28, the segments on the conveyer 23 being delivered at 47 by spring-loaded bars 45, Fig. 4, to the conveyer 22 to lie between the segments thereon and form composite filter assemblies finally delivered to a catcher 51 for envelopment in a paper wrapper.
